Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering is a branch of engineering that focus on the measurement and control of process quantities or variables like temperature, flow, level, pressure, displacement, position, speed, moisture, humidity, pH, force and others within a production or manufacturing area. They also focuses on the design and implementation of systems that incorporate them. This branch provides knowledge of indicating, measuring and recording of physical quantities.
Instrumentation and Control is heart of automation. Automation plays an significant role in industrial and manufacturing area. Automation means automatically control of plant or industrial appliances which offer faster operation, flexibility, cost-effective solution, increase production, save time and reduce human efforts. Automation is carried out with help of sensors, transducer, transmitter, controllers, actuators and others devices.
The Instrumentation and Control Engineering branch concerned with the development of sensor, transmitter, receiver, transducer, controller, Programmable Logic Controller, Distributed Control System, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System, control valves, positioners, relays, actuators, converters, robotics, vibration analyser, Gas analyser, Gas Spectrometers, IoT based project design and others.
The Instrumentation and Control Engineering is branch that deals with two categories i.e. Instrumentation design and Control Engineering.
In this branch, students learn concepts of design and manufacturing of instruments like pressure sensor, temperature sensor, level sensor, rain sensor, speed sensor, motion sensor, flow sensor, gas sensor, displacement sensor, stress and strain sensor, weight sensor and others. The students also learn instruments used for biomedical applications.
In the control engineering or control systems, students will get knowledge of different control algorithm (ON-OFF, Multi Position, Proportional Integration and Derivative Controller Artificial Intelligent, Fuzzy Logic and others) that applies to design systems with desired behaviour.
During this course, students will learn different subjects like Basic Electronics, Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, Analog and Digital Communication, Industrial Measurement, Process Instrumentation, Process Control, Measurement in Industry, Building Automation, Micro-controller and Interfacing Programmable Logic Controller, Soft Computing, Control System, Advance Control System, Analog Signal Processing, Digital Signal Processing, Distributed Control System, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System, control valves and others.
