Nowadays, technological enhancement takes place in a fire alarm system with advanced features like higher flexibility, compact design, faster performance, cloud-based database generation, internet through controlling, and others.
The various modular design of the fire alarm control panel is available in the market with IP addresses and used to monitor and control the fire alarm system functioning over the internet.
In the market, the fire alarm system is available with IP (Internet Protocol) based Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter (DACT) and Digital Alarm Communicator Receiver (DACR). The DACT and DACR are installed in the fire alarm control panel.
The IP based alarm initiating devices like horn, hooter, speaker, and others are used and they are enabled by the fire alarm control panel when the fire detector sends the command in case of fire. Each fire detector has it’s own IP address. Due to that the authorized person easily identified the location of fire.
With help of IP based fire alarm system, the user or operator monitor and control the functioning of the fire alarm system from a remote location. In IP based fire alarm system, the fire alarm control panel, a personal computer for a central monitoring system with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, and repeaters are used. The repeaters are used to extend the range of detection. The LAN cables are used for interfacing between Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP), repeaters and central monitoring system for wired type IP enable fire alarm system
The block diagram of the wireless IP based fire alarm system is shown in fig. 1.
The fire alarm initiating devices and fire detectors are located at multiple remote locations. They are continuously controlled and monitored by the IP/Network-based Fire Alarm System with the help of remote monitoring systems. The IP based fire alarm system is available in different forms like Conventional FAS, Addressable FAS, and Wireless FAS. The IP/Network-based Fire Alarm System is also interfaced with mobile or phone.
In IP network-based fire alarm system, the IP card readers are installed at the location of doors and it is power by Power of Equipment (EoP). When an authorized person puts a card on the card reader for opening or closing the door, the card reader sends the signal to the IP controller. The IP Controller sends the command to door motor or any other interface to open or close the door.
The IP network-based fire alarm systems are widely used in the banking sector, commercial buildings, hospitals, colleges, schools, industrial plants, and others. The IP network-based fire alarm system offers higher security and safety with linking safety devices to them.
